Dear Friends,

As I reflect on my life, I see that I have always been concerned with helping others.  I think social consciousness was bred into my siblings and me.  My parents had a huge garden or truck patch as it was called back in the 40’s and 50’s.  We gave out food to the communities around us and to the local church.  So…here I am more than 50 years later still giving out food and caring for those in need.  My desire is to help with the grace of God and partnering with other organizations put an end to extreme poverty, and the pain and suffering across the world.

I was blessed to gain a position in a hospital in Baltimore as a technologist in its hematology laboratory fresh out of undergraduate college.  Serving the patients kindly and gently was always my call more than the technical aspects. My journey took me to Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health (now Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health) to research in the Maternal and Child Health Department.  I was fortunate to be part of a team that brought forth the issue of lactose intolerance to the scientific community and to the public leading to lactose free products today.  One of the greatest adventures of my professional life was the coordinating and administering the Master of Public Health Program (MPH) for seventeen years.  I met professionals coming from more than 70 countries to do the MPH program.  I became very involved with the African Public Health Network and have maintained many of those connections.  I developed a love for people from all over the world and saw need in all parts of the world.  Building upon such rich and humbling beginnings my life has been a joyous journey.

I invite you to join me in this journey as I and we continue to make the world a better place.
